The success of the conservation and research activities of GTAP and MDK is largely due to the continued support and active involvement of local stakeholders. We place significant value on the recruitment and training of local stakeholders and national researchers to ensure the longevity of chimpanzee conservation efforts in the Congo Basin.

The specific objectives of the GTAP and MDK are designed to be cross-cutting and produce information that increases our knowledge of these great apes while also contributing insights that will aid in developing strategies to ensure the long-term preservation of their wildlife and forests.

All of our activities are designed to include support for local conservationists to gain meaningful experience and skills, which will advance their professional development and careers.
